Needle Arts Design Tool app for iPhone and iPad

The Needle Arts Design Tool allows the user to place standard knitting symbols, with selected background colors, in a graph. Up to two designs can be saved and loaded. The preloaded names for saving and loading are Graph1 and Graph2, for ease of use.

The graph view contains 100 rows and 100 columns. Simply swipe left or right, up or down to access more cells. The row and column numbers remain in place, even while scrolling, for ease of use.

The Symbols slide out tab contains a list of the available symbols. The scroll function can be used to access the full list of symbols. Press on a symbol to select it. When the Symbols tab has slid out of view, the user can press any cell in the graph to place a symbol in it.

The Colors slide out tab contains a list of the available background colors for each cell in the graph. Press on a color to select it. When the Colors tab has slid out of view, the user can press any cell in the graph to modify the background color.

After placing a symbol and/or color in a grid cell, the action can be reversed by pressing on the cell a second time. The cell will now appear white and a new symbol and/or color can be placed in the cell.

The bottom navigation bar contains a Clear button, which clears the graph when pressed. All cells will return to the original white color. The Zoom In button makes the grid cells larger, while the Zoom Out button makes the grid cells smaller. The Zoom In and Zoom Out buttons cause the grid cells to appear in three different sizes.

The bottom navigation bar also contains Save and Load buttons. To save a graph, press the Save button to display a slide out tab listing the two graph names that can be assigned to a graph. These graph names include Graph1 and Graph2. Press the desired graph name. The graphed design will be saved using the selecting name. This name will be displayed as the title above the graph in the main graphing view.

To load a graph, press the Load button to display a slide out tab listing the two graph names that can be assigned to a graph. Press the desired graph name. The selected graph design will be loaded into the displayed graph. The name of the selected graph will be displayed as the title in the main graphing view.
